Religion – a basic guide to help create peace within one’s self and with others. But it can also be used as a weapon to hurt and suppress others.
Although it applies to all religions, one of my favorite Ghandi quotes sums it up perfectly: “I like your Christ, but not your Christians for they seem to be so un-Christ like”.
Religious or not, each human being struggles for their own inner peace and peace with others – and for those who achieve it, nothing is higher than that gift.

I also agree… We only need to find our own truth… what gods will help us find that path doesn’t really matter…

In an effort to condense my answer as much as possible I will say this:
1. I am religious, for me personally being a Christian is an identity which provides strength and purpose in my daily life. It’s a belief in something greater, something better, and the opportunity to make a difference.
2. As secure as I am in my faith, I have a deep respect for non-believers. Especially those who have the courage to reach a conclusion through examining all sides. I was born into a Christian family, to Baptist Pastor, so I have not known much other than that way of life. I now believe because of my own experiences, not because my parents drug me to Church, religion became real for me and only then was I a true believer.
I hope to sometime hear your perspective, and learn more about my beliefs by looking at them from a different angle.
