I Won’t Do That

Some will come at you daily, some will come at you at night
There’s a lot of love within me, too much love to want to fight
And I watch you, you go sneaking around the back
And I stand with my arms open, feeling everything I lack
But when it comes to us two leaving honor last
You know I won’t do that

A life spent burning bridges (you know I won’t do that)
Making others feel your pain
But life ain’t for burning bridges (you know I won’t do that)
Oh Lord, what a shame

Young man working for a living, trying to know just what’s right
Makes a bargain with the devil, gives away all of his sight
Now you watch him, you see what he writes away
How he gave away his freedom, never sees the light of day
But when it comes to us two leaving honor last
You know I won’t do that

A life spent burning bridges (you know I won’t do that)
Making others feel your pain
But life ain’t for burning bridges (you know I won’t do that)
Oh Lord, what a shame

Everybody suffers, everybody waits
Everybody yearns for love and to give their love away
But if we keep this way we’ll both be blind
Never to see another day

Love fights only for its freedom to love everyone alive
Now you watch me, and you’ll see someone that lives
Giving everything they’re made of, giving all that they can give
‘Cause when it comes to us two leaving honor last
You know I won’t do that

A life spent burning bridges (you know I won’t do that)
Making others feel your pain
But life ain’t for burning bridges (you know I won’t do that)
Oh Lord, what a shame
Life ain’t for burning bridges (you know I won’t do that)
